Taking Five: May-June

 Henry Stickmin: Two poems have been published.

Universal Phoenix Corps: Finished my rough draft for the current story!  I'm going to hold off looking at it for a period of time until I can look at it with fresh eyes. Hopefully it'll be published this summer!

Sonic Dahlias: More idea-formulating has been set forward in motion. 

Other Fanfics: Posted two poems dedicated to R. Lee Ermey and Daveigh Chase. Or rather, the characters they voiced - Sarge from the Toy Story films and Lilo Pelekai from Lilo and Stitch. RIP to them both.

Taking Five: March-April

 Henry Stickmin: Posted a new poem for 'Weaving the Threads' and a new chapter for 'Restoring the Soul: The Manor's Tales'. 

Universal Phoenix Corps: Still at it with my current story although I have been thinking on and off about starting a story for a different canon to help this universe move faster. We'll see. 

I also published a Jetsons one-shot focusing on Orbitty. Yes, the Jetsons will be featured in this universe. They'll play bigger parts much later, however. I've had this one-shot idea on the brain for awhile, and decided that it was time to post it. I might do more of these one-shots focusing on established canons for UPC in-between months to build up hype along the way. It wouldn't be a perfect solution to the problem, but it would help fill in gaps between projects until the stories can be posted. Once more, we shall see.  

Sonic Dahlias: Came up with more characters to possibly add to the roster (which might be a reference to a fictional band), plus a potential plot point. 

Other Fanfics: Started up my crossover series known as 'Stotle's Cafe'. The name is a shortened version of Aristotle, the Greek philosopher, who was known for pondering the 'what-ifs' of life. This series will not be a top priority unless I have an idea that I absolutely must get onto the page. This series will act as a backup fanfiction because of that - and if I'm struggling on other ideas - whilst I'm working on them.

Taking Five: January-February

Henry Stickmin: Posted a new series of poems for 'Weaving the Threads'! 

Universal Phoenix Corps: I'm gradually writing this story and it's coming along a bit faster now. I'm not done yet, but progress is made. 

Sonic Dahlias: I'm starting to write a profile for one of my stars. I won't be saying who it is to keep it as a surprise. 

Other Fanfics: I posted a one-shot crossover between Redwall and The Silver Brumby. I'm aiming to make it a goal this year to post more outside of the HS universe, and complete more of my other projects as well. A crossover one-shot is as good a place as any to start. 

Also, due to how short the one-shot is, I don't think I'll do a 'Special Features' post on it. If I want to mention it offhand in another post, I will do so.

Taking Five: November-December and Happy New Year!

 Happy 2026!  I plan to make this year rule! 🎉
To round out 2025, here's what I worked on during the last months of the last year -

Universal Phoenix Corps: I'm still gradually working through this latest chapter for the story, but I did carve out a rough plan draft for how I want the rest of the story to go. It will be finished by the end of the year! I'm determined to make it so!

Sonic Dahlias: More world-building and character-building. 

Henry Stickmin: A new chapter update for 'Restoring the Soul'.  I plan on getting back to my Henry Stickmin poetry; I might go back to my original plan and write out poems monthly to keep the updates coming, but this time, I'm going to sit down, write them and then save drafts of the poems before posting them for the appropriate month if there's a theme tied to the month. 

...And I might have an idea for another AU plotted out. Uh-oh. Later on that one.

Happy Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas!

 This is incredibly late/on time, but I hope everyone had a Happy Halloween, Happy Thanksgiving and a Merry Christmas. :) 

I will have the first post of 2026 coming up with a wrap-up post of all that has been accomplished for these past few months, and hopefully I'll try to have another 'Special Features' post before the year ends but I am NOT promising this whatsoever LOL. 

However, in my upcoming post, I will talk of a plan I have for the winter season which will hopefully bear forward some fanfiction fruits if I plan it out right. I'll only say I plan on working on more than one, two, three things for my fanfiction concepts.

Taking Five: September-October

 Things have been slow here so I have no real progress to show. But I have been working through a problem I've got going on in my latest chapter of my UPC story. I don't think I'll be able to finish this story by the time the year ends, but it's better to take my time and write it, well, right. Everything else is also moving gradually. Unfortunately, I've had to miss deadlines for my fanfics, due to real life but I'm happy I have a chance to breathe and work on these things whenever I can! 

I am thinking about giving everything that's in progress, or at least the things I can work on (like my Henry Stickmin stories), updates, as a way to make up for lost time, but as with other things, we shall see.

Taking Five: July-August

Universal Phoenix Corps: Four chapters down! And now that I do know where I'm going directionally with this story, I do have a goal to have it - or at least a draft of it - done by the end of the year, but I will make no promises whatsoever. My muse is on fire for this story, so let's see how long it can keep burning.

Sonic Dahlias: More world-building and character-building. 

For Henry Stickmin, other than an update for the HS/PM crossover, there's nothing else to report. I initially planned to have something done for the anniversaries of 'Completing the Mission' and 'Breaking the Bank', but real life and time got away from me. I might change that with a couple of updates this month, but we shall see. 

I've also been getting into non-UPC/Sonic/Henry Stickmin material, but at a slug's pace. There's one crossover especially I've been working on and off, in the same vein as the Kingdom Hearts universe, but until I can make more progress on it, I won't divulge on what it is yet. But it will be brought up, along with some other posts I've been wanting to work on. Hopefully this month I can do it, but again, we shall see.

Fanning the Ramblings: Cleaning the Locker While Taking Five

 This is somewhat a last-minute addition to my last 'Taking Five' update, but I'm going to delete old fics from my Fanfiction.Net account. Maybe on my A03 too, but not as much over there.  
Don't worry, it'll be mostly one-shots I'll be deleting. Looking back at the writing, I shudder at how awful I was of a writer when I started writing fanfiction. I don't mind keeping some older things if I feel they're of decent quality, but for everything else, they'll go out the trash bin. A portion of those fics contain ideas I'm not using anymore so I don't want them posted where everybody can see them. 
If you'd like to know which ones I'll delete, feel free to ask!

Taking Five: May-June-July

 Restoring the Soul: The Manor's Tales - The latest chapter has been published in honor of "Stealing the Diamond"'s anniversary. 

Universal Phoenix Corps: A lot of editing is being done for this first story I'm working on. Turns out it needed another major overhaul - the older version wasn't working due to construction and timing, so it's going a resurrection once more. 

Sonic Dahlias: More world-buliding and character-building. 

I'm also working on a new Character Spotlight post which is taking longer than necessary, but it'll be worth it once it's done!

Taking Five: March-April

 Weaving The Threads: A new poem has been posted. Yay! 

Restoring the Soul: The Manor's Tales - The latest chapter has been published in honor of "Escaping the Prison"'s anniversary. 

Universal Phoenix Corps:  No significant updates, other than I'm editing a story set in this universe. 

Sonic Dahlias:  More universe-building, but nothing to report yet. 

Hopefully the next batch of updates after June comes round will produce more fruit than what's here, but until then -

Taking Five: January-February

Weaving The Threads: updated with a new poem. I’m going to make it a goal to publish at least one poem per month if I can’t post chapters of my other works. 

I'm still plugging away with Universal Phoenix Corps but no significant updates to report as of now.  But I will announce what my Sonic AU is named: Sonic Dahlias. Why named after a flower? It's a throwback in terms of flower symbolism used in a published novel (not written by me but by someone else at the start of the 20th century). In this case, dahlias stand for resilience, recovery, change, grace and royalty, all of which will play parts in Sonic Dahlias. 

It also symbolizes staying focused which is what I'll be aiming to do for the rest of March and April with my fanfiction ideas. I've been working on a Character Spotlight post too, but I won't say when it's done as I have quite a bit to say about this character, haha.

Taking Five: November, December and a New Year!

 Happy 2025! May it be a year filled with new frontiers to explore and conquer. 🎉

As it was the holiday season, I did not get too much done, but I did publish a new chapter for "Eye of the Needle" in November, and I've been working slowly but surely on my  fanfiction universes, one inch at a time. 
Oh yes, and I've also published a series of haikus set in my crossover universe! Thus, the adventures have begun. 

To open up the new year, I'll give away the names of said world because it's fitting to say goodbye to the old year and welcome the new one (in keeping with the theme). That name is: "Universal Phoenix Corps", or UPC for short.

I do plan on finishing up EotN this year, write and publish more stories and post more 'Special Features' posts along the way. I'm eager to see this through. 

May 2025 be a new year for all!

Taking Five: September and October Updates

*"Through Smoke and Bitter Distance" is completed!  

The ending was difficult for me to write, but I persevered and have successfully finished another fanfiction. The only thing left to do for it is to write the "Special Features" posts, but in due time, those will come. 

*I've been working on more Character Spotlight posts. For the next one I'll be posting, I'll only give one hint about the character's identity: the character is a female. 

*I've also published the latest chapter for "Restoring the Soul: The Manor's Tales", and have also posted a poem for my Henry Stickmin poetry collection. Another poem might be posted this month. 

*The latest chapter for "Eye of the Needle" is currently in the works, and I hope to publish that to coincide with the anniversary of the game Fleeing the Complex soon. The release date for the original game was November 12th. 

*I've been worldbuilding like crazy for all my universes, from Henry Stickmin to Sonic to my mega crossover fanfiction universe to my original stuff. 

-Speaking of my fanfiction universe, I've been editing one of the first stories for it, and although it's nowhere near done, it's coming along. 

More stuff will be coming on the horizon!

Taking Five: July and August Updates

 Hello, long time no chat. I’m making a small but crucial change to these ‘Taking Five’ updates; as it seems that a lot keeps on happening in my life (not bad, just busy), I’ll be giving updates every two months. That way, I’ll have hopefully a lot more to share regarding everything and I don’t have to worry about meeting monthly deadlines. 

With that, what’s been going on? Well, “Through Smoke and Bitter Distance” has been an absolute…er, mission to accomplish. I did update with one more chapter, but unfortunately, I had to splice it into two, so now I’m writing the epilogue, which is a lot easier said than done due to my Henry Stickmin muse hiding in the shadows. But by hook or crook, I will get this done!

I’ve also been working on a new Character Spotlight post, and have also been editing some older stories and I plan on reposting them on a new account I made. I won’t reveal what they are yet, but they will deal with a big universe I’ve been constructing for quite a while now. Some folks may know, but for anyone who hasn’t heard of it… you’ll see!

Taking Five: March April, May and June Updates

 A lot has happened in my life, so I just haven’t had a lot of time to give a lot of significant updates other than what I’ve been posting for my character spotlight and miscellaneous pieces on here and working on"Through Smoke and Bitter Distance” . The good news about the latter though - I’m almost done with the story! I just have one more chapter and then the epilogue and then I can call it finished. 

And more news - I might be more active here as I may not have as much going on as I did in the spring, but nothing is promised!  I’ll say this much though. One of my muses is back… like a phoenix rising from the ashes.

Taking Five: February 2024 Updates

Nothing terribly new to report on the fanfic front, but I am slowly working on "Through Smoke and Bitter Distance” as well as “Restoring the Soul: The Manor’s Tales”. The latter story will need a lot of writing due to a special anniversary coming up in April, so I’ll need to hustle on that front lol. 

And I also not only finished my George Jetson character spotlight post, but I also started working on the next character post. I can’t say when it’ll be released, but it’ll come and hopefully I’ll have the first post released soon.

Taking Five: January 2024 Updates

Happy 2024, gang! I hope that whatever goals you set out to accomplish, you will make them so.

As for me, I'm slowly inching my way through"Through Smoke and Bitter Distance" . I thought that the last chapter of this story was a beast to write. No, no - the latest one is turning out to be a bigger monster to write! But thankfully it's being worked on bit by bit. I will not set a deadline for it this time. I would like to have it done by the springtime, but I'm not placing any bets on it. Because the chapter is so massive, I'll have to place this on top priority until it's finished. 

But I'm happy that I posted a new 'Special Features' for "Restoring the Soul: The Manor's Tales" and also posted the first of my Character Spotlight series. The second half of my Character Spotlight post will also have no deadline, but I do have some information written up about George so I've got a good start on it anyhow.

Taking Five: December 2023 Updates

And now it's the end of 2023. Whoa. 

No real writing - well, other than "Through Smoke and Bitter Distance" - has been made for December, but new year equals new opportunities, right? I'm not sure what I want to write for January yet, but I'll plan it out and come up with some fun stuff for you all to read. I do plan on finishing the aforementioned story by this year; I'm determined to finish this large novel of a chapter or I'll eat my hat haha. In the meantime, take care and Happy New Year, all! May 2024 be a wonderful year for you!

Taking Five: November 2023 Updates

 How is it December already? It feels like someone pulled the level of the time machine to speed things up!

But at least I have some news to share, and it's progress at that! The latest chapter for "Eye of the Needle" is posted, coinciding with the anniversary of "Fleeing the Complex" when it was originally released to the public on November 12th, 2015. 

That story's proven to be a far easier story to write for than"Through Smoke and Bitter Distance". But that's because the chapter I'm currently writing now for TSABD is more massive than I thought but also because the fanfic itself is nearing completion. If I can somehow manage to finish this short story (Short? Ha!) by the end of 2023, I will have completed two short stories! And make room for new stories. 

In between writing, I want to post another 'Special Features' for one of my fanfics in December. Assuming over the holidays this will be possible at any rate.

Taking Five: October 2023 Updates

 Happy Halloween/All Saints' Day! 

Good news: the latest chapter for "Restoring the Soul: The Manor's Tales", has been written up and published! As is the first 'Special Features' post focusing on the prologue of the aforementioned story. 

Bad news: I've been writing for "Through Smoke and Bitter Distance", but I didn't publish it  in time for October. 

But I'm determined to post it for November and finish it, as well as publish the latest chapter for "Eye of the Needle". 

I don't know if I'll publish anything for here or for my fanfics for December, though. Perhaps another 'Special Features', or even a post focusing on specific canon characters, but only time and life will tell.
